Description

Simon S and Simon C visited a big Loire wine tasting in Paris this Autumn – they took the opportunity to unearth some amazing wines from small producers who work organically in this region.

Here is a stunning mixed case of three different wines (two of each) to showcase some of the treasures that they found.

Mathieu Cosme Les Promenards, Vouvray

Mathieu Cosme trained at Domaine Huet learning their biodynamic practices and fantastic winemaking techniques. He has now become a winemaker to watch, and after trying his wines you will see why! This cuvée is from 50 year old vines planted on the regions famous limestone tuffeau. The wine has beautiful notes of ripe pear and jasmine, along with a mineral finish. Drink now, or keep until 2030!

Domaine Turones Les Grandes Vallees Touraine Sauvignon Blanc, 2022

This expressive Touraine Sauvignon is from 40 year old vines grown on clay/tuffeau soil. On the nose, lemon, hawthorn and passionfruit. The palate is really well balanced with fleshy fruitiness alongside refreshing citrus notes.

Saint-Pourcain, Instan T Blanc

After ten years of experience in France, New Zealand and South Africa, Floren Barichard settled in 2013 on the sandy soils of Chatel-de-Neuvre and the granite soils of Meillard. His aunt and uncle gave him half of their farm and he now manages a 9.5 hectare vineyard.

80% Chardonnay 20% Tressallier. A lovely nose of citrus, pear and peach with honey and a little white flower. On the palate it is fresh and aromatic with a good length.
