At The Solent Cellar we are committed to maintaining the relationships we have built with our customers. Part of this relationship includes trust so Heather and I want to reassure you that we’re in the business of selling wine and not data or mailing lists. We have never or ever will sell, trade or rent any of our customers data or email addresses to other companies for marketing or any other purposes.
When you sign up to our email newsletter we collect personal data – your email address. We do this so we can keep you up to date with things that are of interest to you e.g wine tastings and events, wines and other related products and general news from the Solent Cellar.
We use mailchimp to deliver this news to you and as part of this we monitor how many of you open the email and which parts of it you click on and find interesting. We do this so we can refine and improve what we send to you. You can find out more about mailchimp privacy policy here.
We also use an external third party to deliver emails on our behalf should you, for example, contact us through our website. We may share your personal data with them in order that we can carry out certain functions, such as communicating about an enquiry, processing your order and to assist with the general running of our site. Whilst this party is based outside of the European Economic Area, they are part of the Privacy Shield which requires them to provide similar protection to personal data shared between Europe and the US. We may also share your personal data with third party website agencies where this is necessary for us to carry our our obligations to you. We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.
You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time simply by clicking on the unsubscribe button which always appears at the bottom of each newsletter. Should you wish to view or amend any of the personal data that we hold please email your request to simon@thesolentcellar.co.uk We reserve the right to pass on any costs incurred by us in fulfilling your request.
Although the new general data protection regulating came into effect on the 25th May 2018 we will continue to review and monitor our compliance on a regular basis.
