Eric Bordelet took over the family business in 1992 after working in top restaurants and in the world of wine. He has around 23 hectares of apple and pear orchards which are farmed organically. Organic farming methods have been used since 1996 to grow the best fruit. The farm is in southern Normandy, located on the upper Briovian schist ‘Grand Cru’ sedimentary rock. Harvesting is manual and selective according to maturity of the fruit from September to December depending on variety.
Granite defines the rock where the roots of the pear tree grows, giving the Poire Granit a unique minerality.
