Description
The Iona Solace Syrah is made in the beautiful Elgin valley, 420m above sea level. These are some of coolest vineyards in the Cape, allowing the grapes to be harvested up to 2 months after Stellenbosch. The result of this is they produce elegant, fresh, complex wines. The grapes for the Solace Syrah are from a south-facing single vineyard site with Brocha soils. After fermentation, the wine is matured in 2nd, 3rd and 4th fill French oak barrels.
Tasting Note
The Iona Solace Syrah is an elegant expression of South African Syrah. Plenty of red fruit and floral notes intermingle with white pepper and warm spices. The fruit is balanced by fine tannins leading to a long finish.
