Domaine Berthet-Bondet is in Chateau Chalon, they have 10 hectares of vines with 5 of these coming under the appellation of Chateau Chalon and 5 under the appellation of Cotes du Jura. More than half the vines are more than 30 years old. The Berthet-Bondet Balanoz spends 12 months in oak barrels with stirring and lees, this is a topped up style that prevents oxidation. 5-10% of the oak barrels are new. The wine has a nice blend of citrus fruit and minerality with a very light touch of toasty oak. Delicious matched to seafood dishes or white meats.
“Chardonnay. Lightly herbal and cedary. Unusual Chardonnay that is much more about origin than variety. Tight, stony, mouth-watering and full of energy and zest.” Jancis Robinson 16.5 Points
