Description

Chateau Doisy-Vedrines is named after the family who soled the estate in 1851. The historic Vedrines vineyards are on a plateau, on clay-limestone with iron traces. The vineyards are 600m away from the River Ciron, a tributary of the Garonne, which creates the conditions to produce botrytis on the grapes. After fermentation in tank the wine is transferred to barriques, where it is aged for 18 months. The percentage of new oak varies, but for the 2007 it was 50%. Vedrines typically has high acidity, so the winemaker Olivier Castèja likes a good deal of residual sugar in the wine to balance that acidity.

Tasting Note

The 2007 is exceptionally fine, with velvety texture, flavours of ripe oranges and peaches, fine concentration and acidity with a great finish.
