Description
The Vina Real Crianza is an important wine for the CVNE group. They launch the wine in 1920’s and at the time they were one of the pioneering wineries to use oak ageing for their Crianza. The Vina Real winery is in Laguardia, the heart of the Rioja Alavesa sub-region. The wine is made from 90% Tempranillo with the remaining 10% from: Graciano, Garnacha and Mazuelo. After 13 month in mainly American Oak the wine is bottled and further matured before release.
Tasting Note
The 2016 vintage was rated as very good by Rioja DOCa. This wine shows shades of medium to deep cherry colour on a purple background. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe fruits (blackberries, blackcurrants) stand out, complemented with subtle hints of oak. On the palate, it has a rounded structure with a good integration of fruitiness and oakiness. The aftertaste is marked by very well balanced tannins as well as by persistent spicy, toasty and balsamic aromas.
