Description
Chateau Figeac is rarity within St-Emilion in that its vineyard soil is dominated by three gravel croupes with little to no clay. This makes the soil far more suitable for Cabernet then Merlot. The vineyard planting reflect this with 35% Cabernet Franc, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. The blend for the 2012 Petit-Figeac reflects this with 40% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot.
Tasting Note
The Petit-Figeac is the earlier drinking second wine for Figeac. The 2012 is in an excellent spot at the moment with expressive juicy red and black cherries on the palate with soft tannins and good acidity.
