Description
The Odfjell Armador Merlot is made from fruit from the Maipo valley. Dan Odfjell is a Norwegian Armador (ship-owner), who fell in love with the Maipo. Farming organically and biodynamically, he seeks to use the old vineyards concentrated fruit. This wine is made predominantly from Merlot (85%) with addition of Carmenere (10%0 and Syrah (5%). After fermentation, a fifth of the wine is aged in used french oak barrels for 4 months.
Tasting Note
The nose is concentrated and deep, with aromas of cherries, figs and violets. The palate is long, complex and juicy with soft tannins. With a low level of tannin and soft, juicy, upfront fruit, this wine can be enjoyed on its own, but would also pair nicely with a simple Spaghetti Bolognaise.
