Since 1928 the Canas family has passionately led the winery that bears its name with devotion for the grapes which are the essence of the best wines from Rioja Alavesa. Luis Canas owns 118 Hectares of vineyards and controls 220 more from regular trusted suppliers, average vine age is more than 40 years. The Luis Canas Reserva ‘Seleccion de la Familia’ is 85% Tempranillo and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, it spends 20 months in new barrels made of French and American oak. The wines comes from a selection of old vines planted in low yielding soils which ensures a small bunch production.
The wine is intense and complex on the nose, with aromas of ripe black fruit and creamy notes reinforced by the barrel toast. Spice and earthy nuances mix with liquorice notes. This is a powerful wine and would match really well to slow roasted lamb shoulder.
This wine also comes packaged in wooden branded boxes making a purchase of 6 bottles a great gift idea.
