The Gaia Estate was established in 1994 by Greek winemakers Leon Karatsalos and Yiannis Paraskevopoulos. They have two wineries, one on Santorini and the other in Nemea on the Peloponnese. Gaia’s maine aim is to present the potential of the indigenous Greek grape varieties to the world. The Notios is made from 85% Agiorgitiko and 15% Syrah. Agiorgitiko is a native grape to the Peloponnese penninsula. The grapes for this cuvée are from low-yielding, non-irrigated vineyards on the hills surrounding the Nemea region. At harvest time they are hand-picked and chilled to 4 degrees before fermentation, preserving the aromatics and freshness. The wine is not oaked, to preserve the purity of the fruit.
A light bodied wine with a refreshing, velvety texture and lovely red fruit.
