At 700m, very close tot he Spanish border and south of the Douro, Rui Madeira is single-handedly reviving a region’s reputation. This Reserva is Tinta Roriz (or Tempranillo) and Jaen. It has plenty of berry fruit, spice and notes of vanilla and toast from a small proportion of barrel ageing. It is elegant with a fine minerality. This wine is drinking now, it does benefit from a decant and will also age for several years in a cellar.
