Emidio Pepe is considered one of the finest producers of Montepulciano d’Abuzzo and Trebbiano. The ageing of the wines was key to developing the refinement and elegance that he was looking for in these grapes, so each vintage is only released when ready, with large portion held back for future ageing. They work the vineyards biodynamically, producing soulful, old-school wines that taste as if they were from another age. The Pecorino is the newest addition to the Pepe stable, but is a profound interpretation of the grape, with elegance but the bones for further ageing.
