Niepoort Tawny Dee has an average age of 3 1/2 years and comes from the low yielding vineyards in Cima Corgo of the Douro. The grapes are predominantly trodden in lagares prior to ageing in small old oak casks. The port is brick red/tawny in colour with delicate nutty aromas and a hint of dried fruits. On the palate it is well balanced with a youthful fruity, luscious character which integrates with a long spirity finish.
Food matching: Nuts and nut based desserts (pecan pie, fruitcake, hazelnut torte), fruit based tarts, burnt sugar on crème brulée or crème caramel and non blue-cheeses such as Manchego, smoked Gouda or Gruyere.
