A welcome visit on a wet  and windy January week was to try the latest local gin from Dancing Cows. Richard opened up his brewery early last year on Lower Pennington Lane with the mission to create some artisan beers and spirits with local provenance. The latest release of gin has just arrived after several test batches. ‘Lymington Gin’ is distilled to 43% with the usual botanicals (juniper, coriander, orris root etc) with an emphasis on bitter orange, sweet almond and East Kent Goldings hops (being a brewer for over 10 years it seemed only natural!)

On tasting it is lovely and smooth with citrus notes and a slight sweetness from the almond – serve with a zest of lime, a couple of pink peppercorns and a premium tonic such as fevertree.

The gin is £24 for a 500ml bottle and at the moment due to limited supply is available in store only.
