Description
The Barbera d’Asti La Villa by Tenuta Olim Bauda is their classic entry cuveé, with no oak treatment thereby showing the full fruit profile of the Barbera grape.
Tenuta Olim Bauda has been in the Berolino family since the 1960’s and was the jewel in the crown of their negociant business. Tragically Sr Bertolino died in 1985 leaving 3 very young children and no one to run the business. Overnight, the thriving winery was closed and the next 15 years worth of their fantastic fruit was sold to other producers. In 2000 the siblings decided to revive the estate’s fortunes and have since then managed to re-establish Tenuta Olim Bauda as one of Piedmont’s top producers.
Tasting Note
This wine has crunchy cherry fruit, really complex flavours with a backbone of acidity that is known for the wines of this area. This goes exceptionally well with antipasti such as salami and parma ham, but also fatty meats such as pork belly or lamb.
